A cold front is pushing down the lakefront this morning and will pass through all of southeast Wisconsin by 7-8am. This front will turn our winds to the northeast, which will keep temps in the 50s all day lakeside will inland spots slowly rebound into the low to mid 60s under a mix of sun and clouds.
The northeast wind will be blustery, gusting between 20-30 mph at times. This will kick up 4-7 foot waves along the Lake Michigan shoreline all day today into tonight. It'll also create dangerous currents, so a Beach Hazard Statement is in effect with no swimming recommended through early Thursday.
Temps won't be warm enough for swimming today and tomorrow anyways with highs in the upper 50s to around 60 lakeside. We'll generally be cooler near the lake for the next week, but temps overall will be on a gradual warming trend. Highs warm back into the 70s area-wide by Saturday with 80° possible inland by Sunday.
A low pressure system will be parked in the SE portion of the country through the weekend into early next week. This blocking pattern will keep high pressure overhead across the northern half of the country, allowing our temps to continue to warm into the upper 70s to low 80s early next week.
This blocking pattern also means we don't have any rain chances in the forecast for a week. Download the CBS 58 Ready Weather App to keep up on the forecast heading through the Memorial Day weekend.
