MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Mr. Perkins Restaurant in Milwaukee celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday.
A big crowd, including Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas, showed up for the party to show their appreciation for the north side eatery.
“It’s good to know that we are thought of all around the world,” Owner Cherry Perkins said. “That is an amazing feeling. It’s something that I never dreamed or thought would ever exist in my life, but obviously it has and I’m grateful for that.”
Sheriff Lucas said the restaurant serves more than just good food.
“We can come here as a place to really unwind and really share our experiences,” he said. “It’s a place where all of us collaborate, communicate and really just get to be ourselves.”
Perkins says hard work, perseverance and prayer has kept the restaurant going for all 50 years.
