Milwaukee school receives 2nd bomb threat in 5 days

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Investigators and school officials confirmed someone made a bomb threat to French Immersion School early Tuesday morning. It was the second bomb threat called into the near west side school in a span of five days.

A Milwaukee police spokesperson confirmed a threat was called in at about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning to a school near N. 52nd St. and W. Meinecke Ave. A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) spokesperson confirmed there was a bomb threat earlier in the day at French Immersion School.

According to the school district, classes were not affected Tuesday because police completed a search of the building and found nothing. Police said they were looking for an unknown suspect.

On Friday, three MPS schools were closed because of a bomb threat. District officials opted to cancel classes that day at French Immersion, Groppi High School and Hi-Mount Community School.

It's not yet clear whether Tuesday's incident is connected to another bomb threat later in the day that forced Brookfield Elementary School to evacuate. Brookfield police said they suspected the incident was a case of swatting.
