CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) announced two upcoming lead-screening clinics open to the community in May and June.
The free clinics will be available to all children on the following dates:
- Tuesday, May 19
- MacDowell Montessori School: 6415 W. Mount Vernon Avenue
- 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 2
- Riley Dual Language Montessori School: 2424 S. 4th St.
- 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Riley Dual Language Montessori School: 2424 S. 4th St.
MPS says the schools were chosen based on location and convenience for families, not due to any lead risk to children attending those schools. The district says separate, in-school clinics will be held for the schools' students.
Appointments are not needed, but a parent or guardian must fill out a consent form at the clinic.
The screening is done through a finger prick, with results ready in minutes.
