MPD's 'Adopt A Family' program brings holiday cheer to local families

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two local families got some Christmas cheer courtesy of the Milwaukee Police Department.

Officers presented the families with gifts outside the Milwaukee Police Academy Tuesday, Dec. 15. 

It's part of the Adopt A Family program put on by the department's Office of Community Outreach and Education.

Local organizations donated to the program as well. 

We're told that while officers were shopping, a woman decided to pay for two carts of gifts right on the spot.

The department hopes to expand the program in the future.
