MPD releases community briefing video of officer-involved shootings that injured 2 on Cinco de Mayo

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police released a community briefing video Friday, June 16 regarding the officer-involved shootings that injured two during a Cinco de Mayo celebration May 5.

A 22-year-old Greenfield man and a 17-year-old Milwaukee teen were injured after two officer-involved shootings that happened just minutes apart on Milwaukee's south side. 

Police said the incidents happened on the 1200 block of S. Cesar Chavez Drive while officers were attempting to break up a large crowd. 

The incident that occurred at 1205 S. Cesar Chavez Drive is being investigated by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team and the Wauwatosa Police Department is the lead agency. 

The incident that occurred in the alley behind S. 15th Place is being investigated by the Milwaukee Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Police say the involved officers, a 33-year-old man with over seven years of service and a 40-year-old man with over seven years of service, remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigations.
