MPD: Driver cited after disregarding red light, striking police squad

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a traffic accident involving a police squad Wednesday, Sept. 29. 

Officials say around 6:05 p.m., a squad was turning left to go westbound on Villard from the northbound lane of Teutonia when a vehicle disregarded the red light at Villard at a high rate of speed.

The striking auto collided with the squad, which then struck two additional vehicles.

The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

No other injuries were reported. 

The driver of the striking auto was cited.
