MPD Assistant Chief Ray Banks retires after nearly 30 years

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After nearly 30 years on the job, one of Milwaukee's assistant chiefs is retiring. 

Ray Banks' last day at the Milwaukee Police Department was Friday, Jan. 24. 

He says mentoring people within the department and kids in the community has been one of the best parts of the job, and believes that while the department has some things to work on, it's headed in a good direction.

"We all have a place when it comes to our positioning in this world, and I think so many people helped me to keep me on the right path that it was really just my destiny to do the same, to ensure that I help as many youth as I could," Asst. Chief Ray Banks said.
