OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A frightening video captured an Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy nearly being struck by a driver who lost control of their vehicle during the last snowstorm.
Officials say the incident happened on I-43 southbound near East Sauk Road, in the Town of Saukville. The deputy was on the side of the road assisting a vehicle when another vehicle lost control, stuck the squad car, and traveled into the ditch line.
Video shows the deputy running from the oncoming vehicle and was only inches away from being struck. Thankfully, no one was injured.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control and Driving Too Fast for Conditions.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office encourages motorists to remember the following:
- Move over or slow down for all emergency response vehicles on the side of the highway including squad cars, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks, and highway department vehicles.
- Reduce your driving speed in order to maintain control of your vehicle.
