Move-in day: UW-Milwaukee students prepare for new school year

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In Milwaukee, nearly 4,000 local college students are getting ready to start the school year.

Thursday, Aug. 27, is the first of three move-in days at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. 

Students and families unloaded cars filled with dorm room essentials into residence halls Thursday morning.

We spoke with the university's chancellor, who lets us know what he hopes to see from students this upcoming semester. 

"I am looking forward to the newest Panthers to truly get involved with the life of the university," said Chancellor Thomas Gibson. "That means getting involved in student clubs and organizations, undergraduate research, participating in athletic events, our fine arts programs. I really want them to make UWM their very own."

Classes at UWM begin Wednesday, Sept. 2.
