Move-in day: Concordia University freshmen gear up for fall semester

MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In Mequon, college kids are gearing up for the fall semester. 

Thursday, Aug. 20, students and parents unloaded boxes full of dorm room essentials into the residence halls at Concordia University. 

Even though it can be an emotional farewell for most parents, we talked to one dad who is excited for his son's next chapter.

"This is great, we are really excited," said Heath Doty. "It's an absolutely beautiful campus. I think we are doing okay. This is our third move-in, you know, he has two older brothers. We aren't pros at it, but at least we have some prior experience."

Concordia University will end the day with a send-off ceremony happened at 6 p.m. Thursday night.
