Mount Pleasant Police: Officers Pull Over Vehicle Driving Recklessly, Find Gunshot Victim

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Mount Pleasant Police Department pulled over a vehicle driving recklessly around midnight.

The car was eastbound on Washington Ave and driving at a high rate of speed and recklessly changing lanes.

Upon pulling the car over, the officer made contact with the adult driver who indicated that the reason for his erratic driving was that he was trying to get his 15-year-old cousin to the hospital who was shot.

The 15-year-old had suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was seated in the backseat and was conscious and alert.

He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.

This incident remains under investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
