Mount Horeb man killed after motorcycle versus semi crash

A 54-year-old Mount Horeb man is dead following a motorcycle accident Tuesday morning on State Highway 69 near Gutzmer Road in the Town of Washington.

According to the Green County Sheriff's Office, a southbound motorcycle had collided with a northbound semi-tanker.

The cyclist was ejected and the tanker overturned, spilling nearly 6000 gallons of whey into the ditch.

The truck driver required extrication and was transported to a hospital.

The cyclist was pronounced dead the scene. He has been identified as 54-year-old Alvin Thomas.

Initial investigation reveals that the motorcycle drifted across the center line while rounding a curve and into the path of the oncoming semi.

There was no indication of any impaired operation or excessive speed.

The collision remains under investigation.
