Mother of Infant was Allegedly on Narcotics at Time of Death

An infant died in Milwaukee after the child’s mother’s body slouched onto the child while they were on the couch together.

Milwaukee Police are investigating an incident that happened on Saturday, October 1st, around 10:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of N. 54th Street.

According to police, the mother was believed to be under the influence of narcotics at the time of this incident and was arrested. 

A one-and-a-half month old female child was sleeping next to her 30-year old mother on a couch.  While sleeping, the mother’s body slouched down onto the child causing the child to lose consciousness. 

The child was transported to a local hospital by the mother for treatment of serious injuries.  The child died from her injuries on Monday, October 3rd. 

The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
