Mother Charged after 4-Year-Old Allegedly Shot Himself

A Milwaukee woman was charged with child neglect after her 4-year-old allegedly shot himself.

According to the criminal complaint, the mother told police she had been out until 3:00 or 4:00 AM and returned home to her 4-year-old, 2-year-old and 3-year-old.

She fell asleep on the couch with the gun in her purse. The purse was on a pillow on the couch.

She woke up around noon and placed her purse on the floor of the living room and went to the bathroom.

While inside the bathroom, she heard a gunshot and ran back to the living room.

She allegedly observed the child bleeding from the hand and drove the child to the hospital.
