A West Nile Virus positive mosquito batch was reported by the City of Brookfield, according to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry.
The sample was collected at Mitchell Park.
\"Mosquitoes are still active until the first hard freeze so its important for people to continue to protect themselves against mosquito bites,\" said George Balis, entomologist for Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management.
It is recommended to avoid being outdoors when mosquitoes are active, and to apply insect repellent that includes DEET.
