MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 6,000 people will unite on Milwaukee's lakefront on Sunday, September 23 to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
Milwaukee's More Than Pink Walk, presented by Kohl's kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Sunday on the Summerfest Grounds near the U.S. Cellular stage. The goal is to cut breast cancer deaths in half by 2026.
The Komen Foundation helps alleviate the financial burden that can come with the life-changing diagnosis. Patients receive help getting to and from appointments. Sunday's walk will also focus on survivors.
"Breast cancer has touched my life in a very impactful way. I lost my mom and her sister, my aunt, they died within a month of each other both of breast cancer and that year I was also diagnosed," said Nikki Panico, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Wisconsin.
Registration and tailgating for the event begins at 7:30 a.m.
CBS 58 is one of the proud sponsors of Sunday's event. CBS 58 Morning Anchor Whitney Martin will help emcee.
