More stores closing at Bayshore Town Center
GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) – More stores are closing at Bayshore Town Center, adding to the list of vacancies at the popular shopping destination.
Shaw’s Jewelers closed over the weekend, and American Eagle will be closing on January 26.
Retail and dining options are becoming slim at the center as more closures are announced.
“I love Bayshore,” says Julie Tenpas, a former mall employee. “I’ve been going there for years. So it’s sad to me to see everything change. I hope there is some sort of revitalization.”
Tenpas says she worked at Charming Charlie in the mall for years and experienced the decline firsthand.
“As traffic declined, my position was eliminated and was replaced by a part-time role because we didn’t have as much traffic,” explains Tenpas. “I felt it directly and changed industries because retail felt so uncertain.”
Shaw’s Jewelry store’s last day of business was on Saturday, January 12. American Eagle’s final day will be on the 26.
This comes after two restaurants announced they were leaving the Bayshore Town Center; Sprecher’s Pub and Hom Wood Fired Grill.
“I was sad because it’s another store, another restaurant,” says Tenpas. “I feel for the people who are still working at Bayshore and just trying to make their sales.”
“It’s annoying because Bayshore is not the busiest mall to begin with so there’s less and less stuff to do,” says shopper Kayla Wilson. “Hopefully they’re replacing it with something good.”
“I just hope that Bayshore stays because I know they were in the same situation 5-10 years ago,” says Tanpas. “So I’m hoping they have another resurgence.”
CBS 58 reached out to Cypress Real Estate, who owns the property, for comment on the recent closures or any update for what’s to come but we have not heard back yet.
