Multiple chances for strong to severe storms this weekend
For more than half her life Elizabeth Melius, 5, has suffered from kidney failure.
Back in March, her mother Beverly put a decal on the rear window of her car asking for a donor.
"That's why we put the sign on the car," Beverly told CBS 58 News. "To try to get the ball rolling so that she could start living normal."
On May 23rd, they received the call they had waited for; a match was found.
"I was very ecstatic! That somebody would be so generous to give up a kidney for a stranger is amazing."
Now Elizabeth can do something she never imagined; play with her sister and keep up.
Her mom says it now gives her time to be just that, a mom.
"I'm still giving a lot of meds. But, I'm not playing nurse."
Beverly is now signing Elizabeth up for swim lessons and other activities they never thought possible.
Emotions spilled over as she looked into the CBS 58 News cameras with a message for the mystery donor.
"Thank you. Thank you so much! Your selflessness is beyond words. There is no way to thank you for what you've done for my daughter.
God bless you and I hope he's watching over you and your family."
