MKE Food Truck Fest set for Summerfest grounds on July 24

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A food truck festival is headed for the Summerfest grounds! Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. announced Thursday, June 3, that OnMilwaukee will bring "MKE Food Truck Fest" to Henry Maier Festival Park on Saturday, July 24.

It will be the first event on the grounds since it closed in 2019 amidst the pandemic. Tickets are on sale online, while they're still available. CLICK HERE to purchase yours. Organizers tell CBS 58 that they're selling fast.

Whether you're looking for something sweet or savory, Matt Mueller, culture editor for OnMilwaukee, says the food trucks will have something for everyone in the family.

"We're going to have tacos, we're going to have popcorn, we're going to have donuts, funnel cakes, coffee. I think some people are going to need some coffee considering all the partying going on this week with the Bucks," said Mueller. "They're going to be serving food of all types. We're going to be keeping the party going."

The event will feature 14 different food trucks, offering a wide variety of food and beverage options from various cuisines, including Thai, Filipino, Middle Eastern, Italian, and Mexican. Some of the unique menu items include Blackened Shrimp Po’ Boys, Hot Tofu Bowl, Pineapple Fried Rice and much more, alongside BBQ, tacos, sandwiches, and dessert offerings such as fried ice cream, funnel cakes, and gourmet cupcakes. The event will also feature entertainment by DJ Shawna and music from FM102/1. In addition, attendees can participate in the Bars & Rec 'Let’s Play” Yard featuring the Nine Below Hole-in-One Challenge, NorthSouth Club Shuffleboard and Bags. The Milwaukee Admiral’s will host interactive games, and their mascot Roscoe, will also be in attendance.

Mueller says there's no better place to have the MKE Food Truck Fest than the Summerfest grounds.

"Where else could we possibly put it? It's a beautiful setting by the lake," said Mueller. "It's always cooler by the lake-- temperature wise and experience wise."

MKE Food Truck Fest will take place July 24 from 12-5 p.m., with VIP Early Entry at 11:00 a.m. VIP Tickets are already sold out. Tickets will be available online until Midnight before the fest and you'll also be able to purchase them at the gate, unless they sell out beforehand.

General admission tickets are $5, children under 10 are free. VIP tickets are $15 and include one free beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and early entry. In addition, all tickets purchased prior to June 17, 2021, included a free food sample, valued at $5.00, from any food truck vendor.
