Mitchell Park Domes to transform into a winter wonderland with 'A Holiday Snow Globe'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Mitchell Park Domes is preparing to transform into a picturesque scene reminiscent of a holiday decor staple, transforming into "A Holiday Snow Globe," a festive exhibition that launches Saturday, Nov. 18.

The event aims to usher in the holiday season and will continue through Sunday, Jan. 7, offering a blend of winter charm and botanical beauty. Visitors can expect an immersive experience, stepping into a world where hundreds of poinsettias, decorated spruce trees and a range of seasonal favorites create a holiday tapestry.

Several special events will add to the festive atmosphere. Notably, the "Story Teller Santa" on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., offers a chance to experience captivating holiday tales. That same day, from 2 to 3 p.m., David HB Drake, known as the Troubadour, marks his 41st performance at the Domes with "Let There Be Light," a blend of traditional carols and popular tunes.

Additionally, on Tuesday, Dec. 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Ko-Thi Dance Company, Milwaukee’s oldest African American arts organization, presents "Drums in the Domes," a vibrant percussion concert.

The Domes will also host "Late Nights at the Domes" on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 26, with music and light shows at 5, 6, 7 and 7:30 p.m., creating an after-dark experience with dynamic music and LED lighting.

The snow globe exhibition is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday, except Tuesdays when it is closed. Special hours include closing at 8 p.m. on Nov. 24, Dec. 19 and Dec. 26, with late-night light shows commencing at 5 p.m.

The Domes will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, with adjusted hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 2, regular hours will resume until the event's conclusion.

Admission prices are tiered, with Milwaukee County residents benefiting from reduced rates: Adults at $8, juniors, seniors, students, and military at $6, while children under 2 enter free. Non-residents pay $9 for adults and seniors, with other categories remaining the same.
