Milwaukee's James Beard Award nominees: Lupi & Iris and Amilinda Chef Gregory León

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The James Beard Foundation announced its 2023 Restaurant and Chef Award nominees at a ceremony in Nashville Wednesday, March 29, and a Milwaukee restaurant and chef are featured in two categories.

Milwaukee's Lupi & Iris was nominated as Best New Restaurant, and Gregory León, of Milwaukee's Amilinda, was nominated as Best Chef: Midwest. Three Madison chefs were also nominated in this category: Francesco Mangano, of Osteria Papavero, and Itaru Nagano and Andrew Kroeger, of Fairchild.

Winners will be celebrated at the 32nd annual James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, June 5.

Tickets go on sale March 31 at 5 p.m. and can be purchased here. The awards will also be livestreamed on Eater at 5:30 p.m. CT.
