Milwaukee's German Fest 2021 canceled for second year due to COVID-19
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's German Fest has been canceled for a second year in a row.
The festival made the announcement on social media Friday, Feb. 5, citing the health and safety of volunteers and patrons.
The three-day event was scheduled to run from July 30-August 1 at Henry Maier Festival Park.
"It was not an easy decision to cancel for the second year in a row," Festival President Eric Radue wrote in a press release. "Our Board of Directors took many scenarios into consideration. We deliberated for months. Taking all factors into account, the decision to cancel was the best option to allow the vaccine distribution to take place and ensure the safety of our attendees and our many dedicated volunteers at German Fest."
"No one wants to cancel once, let alone twice," he said. "But we will continue to take the steps necessary to support public health. We will continue to plan so that when the pandemic has passed, German Fest will be ready."
German Fest tickets for 2020 or 2021 will be honored in 2022.
