Milwaukee woman honored as 7 Brew's June Hero for work with child cancer survivors

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- 7 Brew in Brookfield has announced Trina O’Malley as the recipient of its June Hero award.

O’Malley, a Milwaukee resident, athletic trainer at Children’s Wisconsin and breast cancer survivor, founded Team Survivors, a triathlon training and support group for children aged 11 to 18 who are cancer survivors.

On Saturday, June 24, members of the community can visit the 7 Brew stand at 1010 S. Moorland Rd. for Team Survivors Day. For each drink purchased, $5 will be donated to the Team Survivors program for triathlon equipment and coaching support.

“The team gave me a support group of amazing women who had similar experiences,” O’Malley said in a press release regarding the impact of joining Team Phoenix, a similar program for adults, after her own cancer diagnosis.

7 Brew owner-operator Tommy Pennington said, “We seek out 7 Brew Heroes who go above and beyond in their communities, and Trina O’Malley exemplifies that in her daily life. She has made it her mission to impact the lives of children and families recovering from cancer.”

Each monthly 7 Brew Hero is awarded $500 and free coffee for a year, with the chance of becoming the 2023 grand prize winner who will receive $10,000 and the title of 7 Brew Hero of the Year.
