MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee VA Medical Center observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day by celebrating with song and volunteer awards.
More than 50 students from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts concert chorale performed at the event.
Three Milwaukee VA employees were also awarded the Presidential Service Volunteer Award.
The events were combined, because were celebrations.
"We wanted to bring this excellent talent that these kids have and showcase that in our hospital," said William Johnson, diversity manager. "We believe there are so many gems like this in the city that don't get shown."
This is the ninth year the VA has handed our public service awards to employees. This is the first year three awards were given out at once.
