MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday, Oct. 15 is White Cane Safety Day.
At the Milwaukee VA, the day is meant to show off all of the opportunities available to veterans with vision impairment.
More than 20 organizations displayed their programs and services for blind veterans -- things like braille, busing services, and even guitar and golf lessons.
Organizers say the programs help keep veterans independent.
"Many great leaps and bounds have been made in technology and independence, but there's a lot more to do," said Dan Synder, Vision Impaired Services Coordinator. "So this is a spirit of the day for White Cane Safety Day."
The Milwaukee VA can assist anyone interested in learning more about their programs for the vision impaired.
