Milwaukee teen named Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin “Youth of the Year”

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee teenager has been named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin Youth of the Year, the highest honor given to a club member.

High school junior Daijahnay Canady is being recognized for her efforts in promoting the #MeToo movement.

The 16-year-old is a sexual assault survivor and is using the platform to advocate for other young survivors.

Canady competed against 15 other members in March for the title. She was awarded more than $15,000 in scholarship money and hopes to become a criminal prosecutor.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin serve over 142,000 youth at 158 sites across 46 Wisconsin cities.
