Milwaukee Soldier welcomed home after deployment to Afghanistan

A Milwaukee soldier figured there would be some family to greet her when she touched down at Mitchell International Airport Thursday night.

But, Captain Sedoria Outlaw of the United States Army was shocked by just how many family and friends were there to welcome her home.

Dozens held signs and balloons and cheered and cried as the Captain walked off the plane.

Not everyone in her unit will have this kind of homecoming.

\"It's really joy and happiness,\" Captain Outlaw told CBS 58 News. \"But also sadness because one of our soldiers didn't make it. So, coming home, feeling joy and feeling my family there and seeing Wisconsin, tears of joy. We completed our mission and I just feel really excited.\"

Well wishers arrived early and passed the time at the airport by making colorful signs.

Her sisters say Outlaw is that rare combination of a strong hand and warm heart.

\"I was excited, appreciative that she came home,\" sister Danielle Outlaw said. \"I just thank God that I got another chance to see her.\"

The Outlaw family will be savoring this visit.

The Captain reports back for duty soon.
