MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The number of homicides in Milwaukee is double what it was this time last year.

It's a rate that's difficult for officers to keep up with and makes it harder to get those crimes solved and give justice to those families. That's why Milwaukee Crime Stoppers needs your help.

It's been a deadly year so far. There have been 52 homicides in the city since Jan. 1, 2022.

That's in comparison to 2021, where there were 25 homicides in the city during the same time period.

Milwaukee Crime Stoppers has solved 48 crimes in this community, including four homicides.

The organization has given out more than $14,000 to people who have called in with a tip or used the P3 Tips app.

But Crime Stoppers wants to make an even bigger impact. That's why they need you to come forward with information about any crime in your community and anonymously tell them what you know. It's a way to take action without anyone, including the police, ever knowing who you are.

"It's important for people to be engaged in the community and help us make the community a safer place to live," said Milwaukee Police Detective Jacob Ivy.

If you know anything about any crime that has occurred in Milwaukee, pick up the phone and call 414-224-TIPS.

Remember, when you call, you never say your name and the tip line can't identify your number or any other information through your phone. You just get a code.

If your tip leads to an arrest, you get a reward in cash at an undisclosed location after you call in with that code.
