Milwaukee’s hometown airline, Midwest Express is getting ready for takeoff

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Midwest Express, Milwaukee's hometown airline, is preparing for takeoff once again.

Greg Aretakis, president of the airline, presented plans on Friday, Nov. 15 in front of a group at the Wisconsin Club for the Independent Business Association of Wisconsin (IBAW).

Aretakis said Midwest Express should start selling tickets really soon. He also said their commercial infrastructure is almost complete.

The new Midwest Express will continue to have some of your favorites: the chocolate chip cookies, nonstop short flights and the leather seats, but some things will be different — they’re adding more destinations.

“Everybody remembers Midwest express, everybody loved Midwest express, and everybody misses Midwest express. Them starting up again is a huge asset for the community and we wanted to get their story told and out there," said Steve Kolhmann, executive director of IBAW.

Executives hope Midwest Express starts flying by late December or early January.
