Milwaukee residents participate in forum to advocate for Medicare for All

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Supporters of Medicare for All gathered in Milwaukee for a forum to discuss the implementation of policies designed to increase access to healthcare on Saturday, June 24.

The forum started at 1 p.m. at the Milwaukee Area Labor Council and included members of "Our Wisconsin Revolution," such as Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Voces de la Frontera and United Electric.

Those who attended listened to various speakers, including a former Milwaukee County executive. Other scheduled attendees included Senator Chris Larson, Representative Ryan Clancy and Representative Darrin Madison.

Tom Nelson, former Majority Leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly, highlighted the significance of establishing a more equitable healthcare system.

He said, "Having a system that would address this and make sure that healthcare is available for all employees, whether that's private sector, public sector, non-profit would be absolutely transformative. And so, every dollar that we would save we could put back in the community."

Organizers of the event, 'Our Wisconsin Revolution,' indicated that their efforts are modeled after Bernie Sanders’ "Our Revolution" campaign. The group's main objective is to expand access to universal healthcare.
