MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Repertory Theater opens the world premiere of “George & Gracie: A Love Story” on Friday, May 1, running through June 14 in the Stackner Cabaret.
The play, written by Milwaukee actress Tami Workentin, traces the partnership of comedy legends George Burns and Gracie Allen from vaudeville to stardom.
Workentin and her real-life husband, James Pickering, star as the iconic duo.
Director Laura Braza joined us on Monday, April 27 to preview the production.
The show has been in development since 2021 and is part of the World Premiere Wisconsin statewide new play festival. Following its Milwaukee run, it will move to Northern Sky Theater in September.
