MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee city leaders relaunched the Alert Neighbor Program on Wednesday, July 29. It aims to be an initiative that encourages residents to take an active role in community safety and crime prevention.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson and city alders spoke about how the program could help save lives.

"Alert Neighbor is another investment in prevention, equipping residents across our city with the tools, with the resources and importantly the partnerships to help strengthen neighborhoods before problems escalate," Johnson said.

Some of the program's resources were on display, including security lighting, neighborhood yard signs and Ring doorbells.
