Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority and DPW receive combined $32K grants for Milwaukee community improvement

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- AARP Wisconsin awarded two grants totaling $32,000 to projects aimed at making Milwaukee more livable for residents of all ages. The awards were announced in a Wednesday, June 28 press release.

The Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority will use a $20,000 grant for community outreach in its “Growing MKE” initiative. The Department of Public Works will apply a $12,000 grant to establish a traffic calming lending library.

AARP Wisconsin announced that the grants were part of the 2023 Community Challenge Grants. The projects are among 310 organizations nationwide that received a share of the $3.6 million total fund.

State Director Martha Cranley stated that AARP Wisconsin aims to enhance the quality of life through tangible improvements, especially for residents over 50.

Projects funded by the AARP Community Challenge grant program must be completed by Nov. 30.
