Milwaukee Recreation teaches kids about bike safety, handling

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With summer in full swing, more and more kids are using bicycles as their main form of transportation.
On Thursday, June 26, Milwaukee Recreation held their bicycle celebration, teaching kids bike handling and safety skills.
The event went over Milwaukee's safest routes and also informed kids about different aspects of professional cycling.
Kids went from station to station learning from lifelong cyclers on different avenues the sport could lead to.
"Just introducing kids to cycling showing them the basic skills necessary the enjoyment of it," said Andrew Rossa, Milwaukee Recreation manager of operations. "I think it is a really cool opportunity to bring kids in from different schools, different communities and really have them focus on some of these skills that go along with cycling."
Attendees got a free bike tune up and got to take a lap around the Bay View course.
