Milwaukee Police shoot armed suspect near 20th and Center

A Milwaukee Police Department officer shot an armed suspect after the suspect fired a shot at the officer.
Officers in plain clothes from District Three approached a group of individuals suspected of dealing drugs in an alley near N. 19th Street and W. Clarke Street just after 12:30 p.m. on August 4.
One of the suspects fled on foot and officers ran after him.
During the pursuit near N. 20th Street and W. Center Street, the suspect fired a semi-automatic handgun he was carrying at least one time and a pursuing officer fired at the armed suspect. The suspect was struck one time and is currently being treated at a local hospital for a non-life threatening injury.
The suspect is a 23-year-old man and is a convicted felon with multiple open warrants. The .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun the suspect was carrying was recovered by officers at the scene. The officer is 34-years-old with eleven years of service and is assigned to District Three. As is procedure, he will be placed on administrative duty during the course of the investigation.
