MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The number of murders committed this year in Milwaukee is down again.
The year isn't over yet but the number of homicides reported so far is 111.
Last year, the final total was 142 and that was down from 168 in 2016.
Milwaukee is on track to have the lowest homicide count since 2014.
"Right now, we are on pace to be under 100 which again we haven't seen since 2014. While I know we don't celebrate those numbers that still means 96 people lost their lives mostly to gun violence," said Assistant Chief Steven Caballero with the Milwaukee Police Department.
When it comes to non-fatal shootings, Milwaukee Police say the city is down 17%.
