MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are using a Wisconsin pastime to build relationships with young people.
More than 70 young people went bowling with officers Friday during an outing in Menomonee Falls.
It's part of an annual event run by the Cops and Kids Foundation called Gutter Busters Bowling.
Officers say this is a chance for kids to get out and have fun, and for some, this is their first time bowling.
District two's captain says this is all part of a larger effort to keep Milwaukee safe.
"Hopefully, you know, everybody feels comfortable with police, and we end up starting to reduce violent crime," said MPD District 2 Captain Patrick Pagot.
Officers say this event grows every year and started out with only about 15 kids.
