Milwaukee officer injured after police van was struck, flipped near 27th and Lincoln

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee police officer sustained non-life threatening injuries after the police van he was driving was struck by a vehicle, flipping the van on its side early Sunday, Aug. 30.

It happened around 3:50 a.m. near 27th and Lincoln.

The impact of the striking vehicle flipped the Milwaukee Police van on its side and trapped the officer inside.

Officials say the extent of the officer's injuries has not yet been determined.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken into custody.

Police say citizens stopped to help remove the officer from the police van prior to assisting officers arriving on scene.
