MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee mother says her son is being punished after recording a teacher shouting at a student.
Shalonda Ezelll says her son recorded the video at Roosevelt Middle School to expose the teacher.
She says it happened in a class for students with special needs.
The video went viral after it was posted online.
Ezell says she got a call from her son's principal, saying he was suspended.
"I said, 'how's my son being penalized for something that he knew was -- that that child was in harms way or you know, was being bullied'," said Shalonda Ezell. "How can you penalize my son?"
The school told Shalonda her son was suspended for inappropriate use of electronic communication.
MPS released the following statement regarding the incident,
MPS is aware of the video that was posted on social media. The District is investigating the actions of the staff member and students. Because this is an ongoing investigation we cannot comment further.
