Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office: 11 probable overdoses so far in 2019

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Just ten days into the New Year and the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has already responded to 11 probable drug overdose deaths.

"Individuals who are suffering with these addictions and difficulties relating to these substances need to get the help they need in order to avoid being a statistic in this office," said Sara Schreiber with the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.

The ME says the 11 overdoses are on par with what's happened the last few years. They say opioids are still the leading cause of death in drug cases. but the specific opioid changes.

For example, fentanyl surpassed heroin in drug deaths and last year there were more cocaine cases than heroin.
