MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Is there a new building in Milwaukee that you believe makes the city more beautiful? Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Monday, June 7, revealed the winners of his annual "Design Awards" for 2021.
"This was an incredibly challenging site to develop. And as I drove past it, I thought, 'I can't believe this, this is gonna be amazing,'" said Mayor Barrett.
The loft apartments near Fiserv Forum were on the list of winners. Mayor Barrett made the presentation virtually and the list included more apartments, the new home of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra downtown, there were murals and even the "Light the Hoan" project was singled out for in Barrett's words, "adding a signature element to our nighttime skyline."
"The one constant of a city and the one constant of our city is that it's always changing, always evolving, always recreating itself. And that's what gives me optimism for the future of our great city.
