Milwaukee man pleads guilty in accidental shooting that killed mother

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee 18-year-old accepted a plea deal Thursday, Oct. 16 in connection with the accidental shooting death of his mother earlier this year.

According to police, Jaylen Gray, who was 17-year-old at the time, fired several shots on April 18 while trying to stop his stepfather, Ziare Dalton, from assaulting the woman.

Investigators said Gray did not realize his mother was in the line of fire.

Gray pleaded guilty Thursday morning as part of a plea agreement, according to court records. His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20.
