Milwaukee man indicted for firearm offense in Winnebago County

(CBS 58) – A Milwaukee man is federally indicted for a firearms offense, according to the U.S Department of Justice.

A federal grand jury returned a one-count indictment against 35-year-old Nicholas Nelson. Officials say the incident happened on February 26, 2017 in the Village of Fox Crossing in Winnebago County.

According to the indictment, on that day, Nelson possessed a 40-caliber semiautomatic handgun. Nelson was not allowed to possess firearms at the time of the incident.

The Fox Crossing Police Department investigated the case. If convicted, Nelson faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
