Milwaukee man found guilty of fatal crash involving MCTS bus sentenced to 32 years

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 30-year-old Milwaukee man, who was found guilty of causing a fatal crash involving a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus, learned his fate on Wednesday, July 9. 

Danny Romero was sentenced to 32 years in prison for his role in the crash that took place on April 20, 2024.

Investigators say Romero was driving with a suspended license and struck a bus at a high rate of speed near 35th and Wisconsin. 

One of the passengers in Romero's vehicle -- identified as Michael Captain -- died in the crash; another passenger was seriously hurt. Five people onboard the bus also were injured. 

Romero pleaded guilty to several charges, including second-degree reckless homicide and second-degree reckless injury.
