MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee man is facing charges for attempted first-degree intentional homicide and an armed carjacking in relation to an incident on February 14.

According to a criminal complaint, Calvin Hicks punched and shot his pregnant girlfriend several times near 34th and Galena.

Court documents state the victim was scared Hicks was going to kill her so she pretended to be dead and laid on the ground. She was hoping Hicks would leave the area but heard that his car would not start.

That’s when the victim decided to get up and get into the car. Authorities say she asked Hicks to take her to the hospital because she thought she was going to die. Hicks ignored her and then ran from the area.

Authorities say Hicks ran up to a man in the area, pointed his gun at him and demanded the man’s car.

The man threw the keys toward Hicks and ran away. The man then flagged down a squad car in the area. He heard a woman yelling from a nearby alley and saw the woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers pursued the vehicle Hicks was driving but eventually stopped to help people in a car that Hicks hit.

Hicks’ girlfriend was taken to the hospital and treated for multiple gunshot wounds. Law enforcement is trying to confirm the status of her pregnancy.

Hicks was later arrested. He also is facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

If convicted, he faces more than 100 years in prison and $125,000 in fines.
