Milwaukee man arrested on suspicion of sexual assault & armed robbery

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested a 24-year-old man the believe sexually assaulted a woman in a hotel, and robbed a man at gunpoint in the span of two days.


According to police, the 24-year-old suspect sexually assaulted a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman in a hotel room at the Hampton Inn near Silver Spring Dr. and Lovers Lane Rd. Police say the suspect identified himself to the woman as a member of law enforcement. The suspect fled the hotel when two male friends of the 20-year-old woman threatened to call the police. The alleged sexual assault took place on February 17th shortly before 1:00 a.m.


Police say they arrested that same 24-year-old Milwaukee man for armed robbery on February 19th at about 4:15 p.m. The 24-year-old suspect allegedly approached a 38-year-old man on W. Port Sunlight Way, identified himself as a bounty hunter, and handcuffed the man. The 24-year-old suspect allegedly stole the man's phone, before taking the victim to a barbershop on the 4300 block of N. 27th St. That's where the suspect allegedly stole more of the 38-year-old man's property. The 24-year-old man pointed allegedly pointed a handgun at several bystanders inside the barbershop before fleeing on foot.


The 24-year-old man was previously arrested by Milwaukee police for felon in possession of a firearm on January 31st. Police are not identifying the 24-year-old man, because he has yet to be formally charged with a crime.


The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing both the sexual assault and armed robbery cases for possible charging. 


Police also believe the 24-year-old man may also be responsible for another robbery that occurred on the 4300 block of N. 19th St. on February 19th.
