MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee leaders came together Monday, Nov. 27 to set a framework for housing growth and choice in the city.
The city's Department of City Development met at the Mitchell Street Library to get feedback from the community on their Growing MKE initiative.
The initiative aims to help encourage housing growth, and as the city continues to grow, organizers say it's important to have housing styles that fit everyone's needs.
"What we've heard from the public is that everyone wants to have that walkability in their neighborhood," said Sam Leichtling, Department of City Development. "Some of the recommendations we're making would increase the types and styles of housing that could be built throughout the city."
Organizers say the results from the initiative will be used to update Milwaukee's policy plan and zoning code.
They say an update only happens once every decade.
