MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A house near 20th and North has been deemed uninhabitable after a fire broke out on the first floor of the 1.5-story structure, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Firefighters responded Tuesday, June 24 and located an active fire. Initial reports of people trapped were unfounded after searches confirmed no one was inside. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

A damage estimate has not been released. There is not yet information regarding whether the Red Cross is assisting those displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Milwaukee Fire Investigation Unit and Milwaukee Police Department.
