MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In Milwaukee, the organization Community Advocates works with low-income families to help them meet their basic needs.
On Tuesday, Dec. 29, the group's CEO said she's encouraged by the fact that Congress is considering an increase in the stimulus checks.
"It's just been such a struggle and it will really help to kind of restore some hope in their lives and some dignity to be able to pay off some bills and get the things that you need for you and your family," said CEO Andi Elliott.
How great is the need?
Elliott says Community Advocates got more than 200 calls for rent assistance last week alone, and keep in mind, the week was shortened by the Christmas holiday.
